Session Two.
We had a rousing start with some physical warm ups with Phillip, followed by vocal warm ups with Mr. Mike Spiller, our MD emeritus. When our voices had been thoroughly switched on, we practised 'One More Song' in unison. The sound was quite amazing with the additional 'chorus girls'. Section practice went better as everyone now has more understanding of the notation. The harmony parts are more distinct with more voices.
We all had another practice of the song, and then Thameside gave a mini performance from the repertoire. We sang 'Something', 'Wonderful World' and 'Irish Blessing'. It is nice to be able to show what we can do to such an appreciative audience.
After the break, many stayed on and we were all happy to see our Vocal Coach Mr. Richard Leathem back among us. He was greeted in the traditional way with a full volume 'HELLO RICHARD'. Richard was on top form and delighted the Course takers with his amusing ideas of promoting resonance. 'Hnnngee' and so forth, and some sounds horribly reminiscent of the playground in its darker moments.
In conclusion there was a highly resonated rendering of the Course Song, followed by Irish Blessing again. We were all much heartened by the attendance, and hope for another equally successful session next week.
