The Christmas Concert - 3rd December.
It was a joy to behold our familiar hall all 'spruced' up for Christmas, resplendent with swags of greenery and with two Christmas trees among the decorations.
Thameside Harmony was out in full force, looking as Christmassy as possible in their red and white, although hopes for gently falling snow outside did not quite materialise.
Our compere for the evening Mr. Richard Leathem introduced each song with a lively anecdote, causing smiles of appreciation all round. We began the singing with 'Soul to Soul', and followed on with 'Alexander's Ragtime Band'.
The first half was a selection from our current repertoire, suitable for the winter season. In the interval a delicious selection of goodies was laid out, banquet style, and a big thank you to all those culinary experts among the chorus who worked hard on the content and the presentation. The young people attending were particularly drawn to the hot pizza slices!
A spirit of Christmas descended upon us all in the second half, and Phillip's button holes suddenly became suffused with incandescent light, inspiring us to sing those Carols as beautifully as we know how. The Shepherds watched, the Manger was laid upon, and even the Herald Angels were heard to proclaim. The Baby was lulled and the Silent Night was calm and bright.
A big thank you to all who helped behind the scenes and to the audience for coming along and supporting us so well, and lastly to Phillip for making it all happen. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
